Bob Pearson will begin his second season as an assistant coach for the LIU Post swimming progam in 2014-15. He serves as the head sprints coach for the Pioneers.
Pearson made an immediate impact in his first year as sprints coach in Brookville. Four of his swimmers qualified for the NCAA Championships, including then-junior Courtney Delehanty. Delehanty was an NCAA participant for the first time in the 2013-14 season.
His most recent gig came as the Head Swimming and Diving Coach at Anoka Senior High School in Anoka, Minn. In just one season at the helm of the Tornadoes, Pearson guided seven swimmers to the state championships, three of which were selected as All-State honorees. He was also recognized as the Sectional Coach of the Year.
Before that, Pearson spent 22 seasons in the same position at Macalester College. In his tenure there, he developed and implemented training programs for the men's and women's programs, which led to 174 shattered school records, 72 All-Conference selections, 25 All-America nods, and 23 Scholar All-America choices.
A five-time Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year pick, Pearson held short stints as the Associate Recreational Sports Department Director at the University of Minnesota (2010-12), and a Press Officer for the United States Olympic Committee (1988).
Pearson, a current member of the CSCAA Board of Directors, and a three-time host for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communications from Hamline University in 1985.
Ten years later, he went on to earn a master's in Athletic Administration from University of St. Thomas. Pearson is presently pursing his doctorate in Educational Leadership.
