A two-time NCAA Division I National Champion at the University of Maryland, Shanna Brady was hired on Jul. 1, 2015 as an assistant coach with the LIU Post women's lacrosse program.
"We are truly excited to have Shanna join our program and family at LIU Post," Head Coach Meghan McNamara said. "Shanna brings a wealth of experience from playing at Maryland, having been a part of two National Championship teams and serving a key role in their defensive unit."
McNamara later added: "In addition to her success on the field at Maryland, Shanna's undeniable passion for the game and energetic personality will have a tremendous impact on our program and players. We cannot wait for her to get started."
While in College Park, Brady helped the Terrapins to back-to-back national titles in 2014 and 2015, and three-consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference Championships (2012, 2013 & 2014). She also assisted Maryland in reaching the National Championship game as a sophomore and the Final Four as a freshman.
"I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to join the LIU Post women's lacrosse family," stated Brady. "It is an honor to work with an incredible coaching staff, as well as a talented group of student-athletes. I am looking forward to furthering my lacrosse career as a Pioneer and am eager to get started in the fall."
Brady, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at UMD, started 91 of 92 career games with the Terps. In that span, she accumulated 75 ground balls, 46 caused turnovers and 30 draw controls. As a senior, Brady tallied her first collegiate goal, an even-strength tally in a season-opening 15-5 win over the College of William and Mary.
Her knowledge for the game of lacrosse has spread into the offseason, as well. She has spent five years as a coach for the Long Island Express Select Lacrosse Club, and will be spending the upcoming summer working nationwide camps for Finish Line Lacrosse.
A Long Island native of Smithtown, N.Y., Brady graduated from Maryland in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in Family Studies.
