Catherine Bruckner is a name that is widely recognized in field hockey at C.W. Post.
Bruckner played three years of field hockey and led the Pioneers to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1979. In a game against Oneonta State in 1978, Bruckner set aside 38 shots – a record that still stands. She was the goalkeeper at the Empire State Games in ’78, ’79, and ’80, winning the gold in 1980. Bruckner also played for the U.S. Field Hockey Association on the New Atlantic Squad for the 1979 and 1980 Nationals. Bruckner also received the Louis Ziccardi Memorial Award as a student-trainer at C.W. Post.
Bruckner, a 1981 graduate of C.W. Post, currently serves as a chiropractor at Finger Lakes Integrative Health Care in Geneva, N.Y.
