Vincent Lananna was a four-year standout on the C.W. Post cross country and track and field teams. He captained the 1974 cross country squad, helping the Pioneers to a fourth place finish at the NCAA Division II Championships. 

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in history and psychology from C.W. Post in 1975, he began his illustrious coaching career by mentoring the Pioneers cross country program for the next five years. 

Lananna has become one of the top track and field coaches in the country at the Division I level, including stops at Dartmouth (1980-92), Stanford (1992-03) and his current position as Associate Director of Athletics/Director of Track and Field at Oregon. 

He was a four-time NCAA Cross Country Coach of the Year at Stanford, and led the Cardinal to five team, and 22 individual, championships. 

An assistant coach for Team USA at the Summer Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, his athletes at Dartmouth combined for 37 All-America awards. 

Lananna resides in Eugene, Ore. with his wife, Elizabeth, and their two sons: Brian (22), a recent Dartmouth graduate, and Scott (20), who will be a junior at Dartmouth this fall.
