Bob Jahelka was a two-sport standout for the Pioneers in football and men’s lacrosse. Jahelka was a four-year defensive starter and two-year elected captain of the football team.

In 1984, he was named a CoSIDA First Team National Academic Football All-American, and was also a two-time Division II Player of the Week. Jahelka also set the C.W. Post single-season school record for interceptions with nine in eight games, a record that still stands today.

A testament to his athletic skill, Jahelka picked up a lacrosse stick for the first time during the spring of his freshman year and quickly took to the sport, becoming a four-year starter. He was selected to the North-South Senior All-Star Team as a defensive starter while serving as captain for two seasons.

During his senior season, Jahelka was awarded the Dean Roy Illowit Award in 1984, given to a dedicated student-athlete who maintains a high academic average, and contributes to the athletic department through sportsmanship and fair play.
