Baseball
Tom McNamara was a standout pitcher for the Pioneers form 1963-65. He helped the baseball team to its first winning season in 1963, where he was C.W. Post’s first winning-record pitcher, and set strikeout records for a single game and a single season.

McNamara also led the Pioneers to a Knickerbocker Conference Championship in 1965 – the school’s first ever baseball conference championship. Upon graduation, he was offered a tryout for the New York Mets, but had already joined the U.S. Air Force Officer Training School and Pilot Training.

McNamara became involved in baseball once again after his military career, starting as a coach and becoming a batting practice pitcher, then assuming a spot on a team. McNamara has remained active in the amateur leagues for more than 40 years, with one of his most memorable moments being his opportunity to throw batting practice to the C.W. Post baseball team in 2007.
