Basketball
Ed Miller was a Pioneer basketball star in the early 1970’s, and received All-America Honorable Mention in 1973 after leading the Pioneers to a 21-5 record and an NCAA appearance. Also following that memorable season, Miller received All-ECAC, All-Metropolitan, All-Long Island, and All-State honors.
After graduation, he attended a tryout with the Carolina Cougars of the American Basketball Association (ABA), which was coached at the time by legendary NBA coach Larry Brown, and was invited to the New York Knicks for a tryout in September 1973. With the defending World Champion Knicks, Miller was the last cut before the final 15-man roster. Miller then moved on to play professionally in Sweden for three seasons before a knee injury moved him into the coaching ranks, where he remained in Sweden for three seasons. Miller would then move to Switzerland, where he coached for eleven years, with four different teams, winning two country championships, one Swiss Cup and was a finalist for another Swiss Cup
