Tom Bennett was a four-year letterwinner and two-time All-American running back for the Pioneers from 1977-80. He set an NCAA record for a 99-yard touchdown reception against Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1980 and was a 12-time ECAC Offensive Player of the Week honoree. He was also voted the Most Valuable Player in 1979 and 1980. Bennett finished his career atop the record books with 3,006 rushing yards. Upon graduating, he played for several teams, including the Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs of the NFL as well as the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the CFL and Denver Gold, Pittsburgh Maulers, and San Antonio Gunslingers of the USFL. He was later inducted into the C.W. Post Football Hall of Fame.
