One of the all-time greats in LIU Post women’s lacrosse history, Shannon Fabian Longo was a three-time All-American and a finalist for the Honda Division II Woman of the Year in 2006. Longo’s name is in the Pioneer record book multiple times, ranking second in career assists with 193 and second in career goals with 152. Along with the career records, Longo also holds three of the top-10 single-season assist totals. Her athletic talents extended beyond the lacrosse field, as she also played two seasons for the LIU Post women’s soccer team, helping the Pioneers to a conference championship in 2003.

During her junior season, Longo was featured in Sports Illustrated’s “Faces in the Crowd” after earning her first Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Attacker of the Year accolade. During that season, Longo claimed the Division II statistical title for points per game (6.26) assists per game (3.94) and total assists (71). As member of the 2007 women’s lacrosse National Championship squad, Longo was named to the championship’s all-tournament team and was named Attacker of the Year for the second time. For her career, Longo ranks seventh in Division II history with 5.15 points per game and also ranks ninth in career assists.

Longo graduated from LIU Post in 2007 with a degree in elementary education. Following her graduation, she played in the European Championship with the Irish national team in 2008. During the same year she helped start the women’s lacrosse program at Dowling College where she served as an assistant coach for three years.
