The 2007 women’s lacrosse team was one for the ages. Finishing the season 17-0, the Pioneers ended the year with a National Championship trophy and an undefeated record. The championship marked the 14th national title at LIU Post, and the perfect record was just the second undefeated season in Division II women’s lacrosse history at the time. Today, the mark still stands as one of six perfect seasons in Division II history.

In the ’07 National Championship game, the top-ranked Pioneers defeated third-ranked West Chester University, 15-9, to claim the program’s second national championship. Shannon Fabian led the way with eight points in the game on five goals and three assists, and Mallory Poole tallied four goals for the Pioneers. In goal, Lauren Scipione and Ann Denning combined to make nine saves to help capture the title. During the season, LIU Post outscored its opponents, 266-99, recording an average margin of victory of 9.82 goals per game.

Five Pioneers were named to the Division II All-America team that season, including four first-team members. Shannon Longo, Lindsay Goldman (Collins), Katie Hogan and Lauren Scipione all earned spots on the first-team, while LIU Post Athletics Hall of Famer Mallory Poole earned a second-team accolade. Scipione was outstanding in goal that season, recording a 5.26 goals-against average, the eighth-best mark in Division II history.
