Swimming Opens Season At Blue Devil Duals
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (Oct. 14, 2007) – The C.W. Post women’s swim team finished with 168.5 points at the Blue Devil Duals, hosted by Central Connecticut State over the weekend.
C.W. Post was one of five schools competing at the at the event.
Sophomore
Jennifer Esposito (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) won three events - the 200 butterfly, 200 free and 100 fly. During the 200 fly she clocked in at 2 minutes, 04.42 seconds, edging out CCSU’s Rachel Brookman, who slapped the wall at 2:09.09. Esposito edged out CCSU’s Erin Crowley in the 200 free when she tapped the wall at 1:54.79. And during the 100 fly, Esposito finished just ahead of Wagner’s Jessica Hart with a final time of 57.49 seconds.
During the second day, the Pioneers captured wins in the 400 free relay (3:43.03), 400 medley relay (4:01.67), and 200 medley relay (1:51.12).
Katie Kelly won the individual 200 breastroke with a final time of 2:22.58. Sophomore
Josephine Tjernstrom (Bromma, Sweden) finished fourth for the Pioneers at 2:36.69.
Junior
Mariel Andersson (Berstad, Sweden) took home a win in the 50 free with a time of 25.30 seconds. Andersson also shared a win with St. Francis University’s Blaire Kosela in the 100 free when they both checked in at 54.98 seconds.
Andersson also finished second in the 200 backstroke with a final time of 2:09.77. Sophomore
Brittany Roman-Green (Woodstock, N.Y.) was third in the same event when she clocked in at 2:16.71.
The Pioneers will host their home opener against Sacred Heart University on Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.
