Volleyball Upended By Adelphi, 3-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 2, 2008) – Sophomore setter Heather Mau registered a match-high 29 assists and added 14 digs as Adelphi University swept C.W. Post, 3-0, in East Coast Conference volleyball Thursday evening at the Pratt Recreation Center. The match scores were 17-25, 19-25 and 26-28.
The win improves Adelphi to 13-5 overall and 5-1 in the ECC while C.W. Post drops to 6-9 overall and 2-4 in conference action.
Trailing 2-0 after the first two sets, the Pioneers fought the Panthers throughout the third set as the score was tied up 10 times with four lead changes. Leading 19-15, Adelphi surrendered six unanswered points to allow C.W. Post to take a 21-19 lead. With the score tied at 26-all, the Panthers closed out the match with kills from senior right side hitter Kathleen Carney and senior opposite hitter Samantha Johnston.
Johnston and Carney each had 10 kills while Johnston also had 11 digs for Adelphi.

Lucia Krskova (Prievidza, Slovakia) led the Pioneers with 10 kills, 10 digs and nine assists. Sophomore setter
Amanda Ostapow (East Setauket, N.Y.) tallied 17 assists for C.W. Post.
C.W. Post will host Queens College (N.Y.) on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Pratt Recreation Center.
