Women's Soccer Places Three On Daktronics, Inc. All-Region Teams
MANCHESTER, N.H. (Nov. 11, 2008)- The Daktronics, Inc. All-Northeast Region teams were released Tuesday, and three women's soccer players were named to the team, which was voted on by the region's Sports Information Directors.
Sophomore
Danielle DeLuca (Islip, N.Y.), who tallied two goals and three assists at the midfield position for C.W. Post, was named to the All-Region Second Team, along with junior captain
Caitlin Mullady (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and sophomore
Anna Svensson (Stockholm, Sweden), who were both part of a defense that is ranked 12th in the nation in goals against average and 11th in shutout percentage, anchoring the backfield for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers are currently ranked eighth in the latest NSCAA national poll, and first in the Northeast region. They won their second straight East Coast Conference Championship title with a 1-0 victory over the University of Bridgeport on Nov. 9. Currently 17-2-1, the Pioneers have matched the program single-season total wins record, set in 1999 and tied last season.
For the second year in a row, the Pioneers are hosting the NCAA Regional, as Merrimack and Bridgeport face off on Friday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. with the winner advancing to face C.W. Post on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.
