Queens Outlasts Volleyball In 3-2 Thriller At ECC Quarterfinals

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Nov. 12, 2008) – Senior setter
Lucia Krskova (Prievidza, Slovakia) registered a triple-double for C.W. Post but it was not enough as Queens College outlasted the Pioneers, 3-2, in the East Coast Conference women's volleyball quarterfinals Wednesday evening at Fitzgerald Gym. The match scores were 27-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-27 and 5-15.
Queens improves to 25-8 overall and advances to the semifinals to face top-seeded Dowling College on Nov. 14 at Dowling. C.W. Post falls to 14-14 overall.
Graduate middle blocker Enobong Shammah led the match with 26 kills while teammate Antonia Klein added a match-high 45 assists.
Krskova finished the match with 11 kills, 15 assists and 13 digs to record her second triple-double of the season.
Freshman outside hitter
Laura Maehlmann (Gunderfingel, Germany) led the Pioneers with 23 kills and added 12 digs while junior
Sammy Figliolia (Wantagh, N.Y.) added 10 kills and 16 digs.
The Pioneers outhit the Knights by a 170-167 count but aided the home team with 41 attacking errors.
