Southern Connecticut Upends Swimming, 111-98; Pioneers Claim Five Events

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Nov. 15, 2008) – The C.W. Post swimming team captured five wins out of 13 events but it was not enough to overcome Southern Connecticut State University as the Pioneers fell, 111-98, Saturday afternoon at the Hutchinson Natatorium.
Senior
Mariel Andersson (Brastad, Sweden) captured a win in the 100-yard backstroke with a final time of 59.36 seconds. She combined with senior
Katie Kelly (Sayville, N.Y.), sophomore
Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario, Canada) and junior
Brittany Roman-Green (Woodstock, N.Y.) to a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, clocking in at 1:47.73.
Roman-Green also came in first in the 50 Freestyle (24.57), followed by freshman
Marta Kristic (Rego Park, N.Y.) and Andersson (25.56).
The Pioneers turned in another 1-2-3 showing in the 100 Breaststroke as Kelly finished first (1:08.01) followed by junior
Josephine Tjernstrom (Bromma, Sweden) (1:09.66) and junior
Dora Biocic (Zagreb, Croatia) (1:13.05).
C.W. Post is back in action on Nov. 22 when it competes in the USMMA Invitational in Kings Point, N.Y.
