Swimming Competes At USMMA Invite

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Nov. 22, 2008) – The C.W. Post women's swimming team competed at the United States Merchant Marine Academy as part of the USMMA Invite Saturday afternoon.
C.W. Post was one of five teams competing at the invite and placed first in 11 events.
Senior
Mariel Andersson (Brastad, Sweden) recorded two individual wins in the 100-yard Backstroke (58.62) and 200 Backstroke (2:09.57). Andersson, along with sophomore
Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario, Canada), senior
Katie Kelly (Sayville, N.Y.) and junior
Brittany Roman-Green (Woodstock, N.Y.) cruised to win the 200 Medley Relay with a final time of 1:48.94.

Marta Kristic (Rego Park, N.Y.) also won the 400 Freestyle relay, clocking in at 3:42.80.
Kristic won the 100 Free with a strong finish at 55.76. She was part of a 1-2-3 C.W. Post finish in the 50 Free, placing first at 26.23, followed by Feliccia (25.41) and junior
Dora Biocic (Zagreb, Croatia). Junior
Morgan Feliccia (Arnold, Md.) was a close second at 58.59.
Kelly cruised to victory in the 100 Breaststroke at 1:07.51, followed by junior
Josephine Tjernstrom (Bromma, Sweden) who finished second at 1:11.65. Kelly won the 200 Free with a final time of 1:59.45. She was followed by senior
Stephanie Palmeri (Seaford, N.Y.), who finished seconds later at 2:01.26.
Kelly finished her day by winning the 200 Breast, finishing more than six seconds ahead of Southern Connecticut at 2:28.22.
Cassidy was first to tap the wall in the 100 Butterfly at 59.25 while sophomore
Sofi Mathsson (Stockholm, Sweden) was second at 1:03.68.
Mathsson later won the 200 Fly (2:13.84) ahead of Palmeri, who placed second at 2:16.60.
The Pioneers are back in action on Dec. 6 when they travel to face the University of Bridgeport.
