Balanced Offense Sends Volleyball Past Adelphi, 3-1

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (Nov. 4, 2008) – Senior setter
Lucia Krskova (Prievidza, Slovakia) recorded her 12th double-double this season with 15 assists and 15 digs as C.W. Post defeated Adelphi University, 3-1, in East Coast Conference volleyball Tuesday night and the Recreation and Sports Center. The match scores were 21-25, 25-13, 25-23 and 25-20.
With the win, C.W. Post improves to 14-12 overall and 9-6 in conference play. Adelphi falls to 25-10 overall and 10-5 in the conference.
Freshman outside hitter
Laura Maehlmann (Gundelfingen, Germany) led the Pioneers on the attack with 12 kills.
C.W. Post held a 42-36 advantage in kills and was 91.4 percent successful on receptions with 48 digs.
Adelphi won the first set, 25-21, as junior middle blocker Kelsey Hackett led the Panthers with four kills and was helped by 15 Pioneer errors.
The Pioneers responded in the second set with 12 kills with a .290 hitting percentage. C.W. Post went on to take the next three sets from the Panthers.
Sophomore setter Heather Mau recorded a match-high 34 assists for the Panthers. Junior setter
Erica Valeriano (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) led the Pioneers with 18 assists.
C.W. Post will close out the regular season at Queens College on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
