Offense Not Enough As Queens Downs Volleyball, 3-1

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Nov. 6, 2008) – Freshman setter Antonia Klein registered a double-double with 11 digs and a match-high 40 digs as Queens College defeated C.W. Post, 3-1, Thursday evening at Fitzgerald Gym.
The win improves Queens' record to 24-8 overall and 11-5 in the conference. The loss snaps a three-match win streak for C.W. Post as the Pioneers fall to 14-13 overall and 9-7 in conference action. The two teams will face each other again in the East Coast Conference Volleyball Championships when Queens hosts the Pioneers on Nov. 12.
The Pioneers won the first set as junior outside hitter
Sammy Figliolia (Wantagh, N.Y.) tallied five kills and senior setter
Lucia Krskova (Prievidza, Slovakia) added five assists.
The Knights responded in the second set with a 69 percent attacking percentage as senior middle blocker Natalie Edward pounded nine kills past the Pioneer defense.
The third set was a battle as both teams played to a tie 15 times before Queens broke a 23-23 score with two unanswered points to win the set.
In the fourth set, the Knights maintained a lead throughout and with a 21-20 lead, closed out the match with four straight points.

Sammy Figliolia (Wantagh, N.Y.) each tallied 11 kills for the Pioneers while junior setter
