BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2008) – The C.W. Post swimming team captured seven out of 11 events to defeat Sacred Heart University, 112-89, Saturday afternoon at the Pratt Recreation Center Natatorium.
Junior
Brittany Roman-Green (Woodstock, N.Y.) took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a final time of 25.27 seconds and checked in first in the 200-yard backstroke at two minutes, 11.34 seconds. Roman-Green teamed up with seniors
Katie Kelly (Sayville, N.Y.),
Mariel Andersson (Brastad, Sweden) and sophomore
Riley Cassidy (Ontario, Canada) to capture a win in the 400-yard medley relay with a final time of 4:03.16.
Cassidy captured an individual win in the 200 individual medley, slapping the wall at 2:16.09. Sophomore
Sofi Mathsson (Stockholm, Sweden) finished third at 2:21.32.
Kelly came in first in the 200 breast at 2:28.58 while junior
Josephine Tjernstrom (Bromma, Sweden) was third at 2:33.54.
Freshman
Marta Kristic (Rego Park, N.Y.) won the 100 free, coming in at 55.40. Kristic also combined with junior
Dora Boicic (Zagreb, Croatia) senior
Stephanie Palmeri (Seaford, N.Y.) and freshman
Amanda Preston (Newport, R.I.) to win the 400 free relay, clocking in at 3:46.76.
C.W. Post will return to action Nov. 15 when the Pioneers match up against Southern Connecticut State University.
