No. 1 Women's Lacrosse Sets Aside Southern New Hampshire, 15-10

BROOKVILLE, N.Y.  (Mar. 30, 2008) – Junior attacker Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.) registered seven points on two goals and five assists as No. 1 C.W. Post defeated Southern New Hampshire University, 15-10, in a non-conference women’s lacrosse game Sunday afternoon on Hickox Field.
 
The Pioneers remain undefeated at 7-0, including 4-0 at home.  Southern New Hampshire falls to 5-4 with the loss.
 
C.W. Post completed the game outshooting SNHU, 34-28, and held an 18-9 advantage in ground balls.
 
Sophomore attacker Carole Lee scored a game-high six goals, including five in the second half for the Penmen.
 
Trailing 2-1 in the first half, the Pioneers responded with 10 unmatched goals that included two apiece from senior midfielders Elaine Williams (East Islip, N.Y.) and Mallory Poole (Corning, N.Y.) and senior attacker Jenna Miller (Silver Spring, Md.).
 
SNHU attacked aggressively on offense in the second half, knocking off five goals with three from Lee and two from freshman midfielder Emmalee Willis, cutting C.W. Post’s lead to 12-7 with less than 13 minutes to play in regulation.
 
The Pioneers added two more goals from junior attacker Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Poole with Napoli assisting on both.
 
Lee helped make it a closer game (14-9) when she scored back-to-back goals at 8:02 and 6:05 on the clock.
 
Williams closed out the game and scored her third goal of the game with 13 seconds left on the clock.
 
Miller completed the game with four goals while Poole and Williams each had three for the Pioneers.
 
Senior Lauren Scipione (East Meadow, N.Y.) made five saves in goal to improve her record to 7-0.
 
SNHU’s Katie Clark played the full game in goal and made 10 stops for the Penmen. 
 
C.W. Post will host conference opponent Molloy College on Apr. 1 at 4 p.m. on Hickox Field.
