Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored five goals and added five assists as top-ranked C.W. Post defeated St. Michael's College, 22-3, in non-conference women's lacrosse action Sunday afternoon.
C.W. Post improves to 14-0 on the season while St. Michael's drops to 7-5 overall.
Senior midfielder
Mallory Poole (Corning, N.Y.) also scored five goals and added an assist while junior attacker
Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.) scored four goals and added two assists for the Pioneers.
Senior attacker Brynne Curran tallied all of the Purple Knights' goals in the game.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the game with goals from Napoli, Poole and Hogan. The Purple Knights got their first goal 6:40 into the first half when Curran scored her 50th season goal on a pass from junior attacker Kim Berlo.
From there, the Pioneer offense took over and added nine more goals to close out the half.
Senior attacker
Jenna Miller (Silver Spring, Md.) scored her first of two goals in the game 50 seconds into the second half to boost the Pioneers' lead to 13-1.
Curran scored her second goal unassisted at 6:40.
Napoli notched her third goal of the game at 9:05 that began a 9-0 Pioneer run. Curran scored the game's final goal with 10 seconds left in regulation.
C.W. Post outshot the Purple Knights by a 40-15 margin and won 17 of 21 draw controls. St. Michael's held a 22-17 advantage in ground balls in the game.
Senior goalkeeper
Lauren Scipione (East Meadow, N.Y.) matched her season high with 12 saves in goal. Senior goalkeeper Courtney Wakem made eight saves in goal for the Purple Knights.
C.W. Post will return home for a three-game homestand, beginning with Northeast-10 opponent Stonehill College on Apr. 27 at 1 p.m. on Hickox Field.
