BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 22, 2008) – Junior second baseman
Kyle Walker (Wantagh, N.Y.) batted 3 for 5 with four runs driven and three scored as C.W. Post defeated Felician College, 15-9, in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday afternoon.
The Pioneers even their overall record at 20-20 while Felician slips to 20-17 overall.
Felician took a 1-0 lead early in the third inning when first baseman Marcos Torres singled to left field, scoring designated hitter Joey Algieri from third base.
The Pioneers responded and tacked on four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Senior designated hitter
Mike Sylvester (Farmingdale, N.Y.) drove in two on a double to left center while Walker and sophomore centerfielder
Mike Callaghan (East Meadow, N.Y.) each drove in a run.
The Golden Falcons reclaimed the lead in the next inning with runs, including three-run double to right center off the bat of Torres to give Felician a 5-4 lead. The Pioneers came back with two runs in the fourth with RBI singles from Sylvester and sophomore shortstop

Felician scored two more runs in the top of the sixth on account of a passed ball and a single from shortstop Hector Bello.
Trailing 7-6 in the bottom of the sixth, the Pioneer offense exploded for five runs on four hits and two errors. Walker drove in three runs on a double down the right field line. Bonin drove in his second run of the game with a single up the middle that scored senior catcher
Anthony Rinaldi (Levittown, N.Y.). Callaghan drove in the final run of the inning with a single through the left side to score Walker from third.
C.W. Post secured the win with four additional runs in the eighth inning as senior
Jamie Garland (East Meadow, N.Y.) picked up his first save, pitching the final three innings and allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out four.
Freshman
Eric Stampfl (Dix Hills, N.Y.) earned his first collegiate win, pitching 2.1 innings of relief against the Golden Falcons.
Anthony Spina was credited with the loss, pitching three innings of relief for starter Danny Conti and allowing four earned runs on six hits while striking out one.
Sylvester completed the game batting 4 for 6 with three RBI and two runs scored.
C.W. Post will return to conference play at Adelphi University on Wednesday, Apr. 23 at 3:30 p.m.
