Kay Named To ABCA/Rawlings Division II Northeast Regional Team

EASTON, Mass. (May 19, 2008) – Junior pitcher Bobby Kay (Stony Brook, N.Y.) was named to the 2008 ABCA/Rawlings Division II Northeast Regional Baseball Team. The announcement was made Monday afternoon by Patrick Boen, Stonehill head coach and Northeast Regional chair of the ABCA Division II All-America Committee. 

Southern Connecticut's Karl Derbach was named the region's Player of the Year while teammate Jim Fuller received Pitcher of the Year honors.

Kay was 7-2 this year with a 2.14 earned run average and recorded 82 strikeouts in 84 innings pitched while holding opponents to a .202 batting average. Kay recorded a season record four shutouts to add to his career total of five career shutouts. 

The Pioneers (29-27) won their first East Coast Conference title in program history and advanced to the NCAA Northeast Regional for the first time since 1985.
