Six Women's Lacrosse Players Garner IWLCA All-Region Honors

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 22, 2008) - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association released its 2008 Division II All-North Region Team on May 22, and six members of the C.W. Post women's lacrosse team received First Team kudos in the release.  Selections from the Pioneers include senior midfielders Mallory Poole (Corning, N.Y.) and Elaine Williams (East Islip, N.Y.), senior goalkeeper Lauren Scipione (East Meadow, N.Y.), junior midfielder Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y.), junior attacker Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.), and sophomore defender Kim Williams (Long Valley, N.J.).

Poole, a four-time IWLCA All-Region Selection as well as a three-time All-American, tallied 43 goals and 12 assists for 55 total points, also picking up 38 ground balls, notching 44 draw controls, and causing 24 turnovers. Poole, a member of the U.S. Lacrosse Developmental Team, finishes her career at C.W. Post with 137 goals, which places her second all-time in program history. 

Williams, a two-time All-Region Selection and a 2006 All-American, notched 36 goals and 11 assists for 47 points this season, picking up 32 ground balls while causing turnovers. In addition, Williams and Poole leave as the C.W. Post all-time games played leaders, with 71 appearances each.

Scipione, a two-time All-Region selection and the 2007 C. Markland Kelly Goalkeeper of the Year, posted a 6.00 goals against average, and has led Division II the past two years in the category. She faced 324 shots, allowing 97 goals while making 156 saves for a .617 saves percentage, posting a 17-2 record. 

Napoli, a second-team All-Region selection in 2007, was the Pioneers leading goal scorer this season, scoring 58 goals, while also adding 20 assists. She picked up 24 ground balls while causing 23 turnovers on the season.

Hogan was second on the team in both assists and goals, with 55 goals and 44 assists for a team-high 99 points. She was second on the team with 36 ground balls and led the team in caused turnovers, with 32.  She was also was the team leader in draw controls with 54.

Kim Williams, an integral part of the Pioneers' defensive unit, scored three goals while picking up a team-high 53 ground balls, and added 25 caused turnovers and 15 draw controls.
