Five Women's Lacrosse Players Selected To All-America Teams

BROOKVILLE, N.Y.  (May 28, 2008) – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and US Lacrosse have honored 32 student-athletes in Division II, including five from C.W. Post, with a selection to the association's All-American teams.

Senior midfielder Mallory Poole (Corning, N.Y.), junior midfielder Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y.), junior attacker Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore defender Kim Williams (Long Valley, N.J.) were First Team selections while senior goalkeeper Lauren Scipione (East Meadow, N.Y.) was named to the Second Team.

In addition, the group received additional honors as Scipione was named the womenslacrosse.com Goalie of the Year while Poole was named the Midfielder of the Year. All five were named First Team All-American by womenslacrosse.com.

Poole, a four-time IWLCA All-American, tallied 43 goals and 12 assists for 55 total points, also picking up 38 ground balls, notching 44 draw controls, and causing 24 turnovers.  Also a member of the U.S. Lacrosse Developmental Team, Poole finishes her career at C.W. Post with 137 goals, which places her second all-time in program history. 

Hogan, a two-time First Team All-American, was second on the team in both assists and goals, with 55 goals and 44 assists for a team-high 99 points. She was second on the team with 36 ground balls and led the team in caused turnovers, with 32. She was also led the team with 54 draw controls.

Napoli earns her first IWLCA All-America First Team nod this season.   She led the Pioneers with 58 goals while also adding 20 assists. She picked up 24 ground balls while causing 23 turnovers on the season.

Williams, a first-time All-American, played an integral part of the Pioneers' defensive unit. She scored three goals while picking up a team-high 53 ground balls, and added 25 caused turnovers and 15 draw controls.

Scipione, a two-time All-America selection and the 2007 C. Markland Kelly Goalkeeper of the Year, posted a 6.00 goals against average, and has led Division II the past  two years in the category.  She posted a .617 saves percentage in goal this season.
