ECAC Announces Women's Lacrosse All-Stars; Scipione Named Goalkeeper Of The Year

CENTERVILLE, Mass.  (June 18, 2008)
– The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) released its women's lacrosse All-Star team Wednesday morning and selected senior Lauren Scipione (East Meadow, N.Y.) as Goalkeeper of the Year while naming three additional Pioneers to its First Team.

In addition to Scipione, senior midfielder Mallory Poole (Corning, N.Y.), junior attacker Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore defender Kim Williams (Long Valley, N.Y.) were named to the conference's First Team.

Scipione, a two-time All-America selection and the 2007 C. Markland Kelly Goalkeeper of the Year, posted a 6.00 goals against average, and has led Division II the past  two years in the category.  She posted a .617 saves percentage in goal this season. 

Poole, a member of the United States national women's lacrosse team, was the ECC Player of the Year. A member of the IWLCA Academic Honor roll from 2005-2007, Poole was a member of the 2008 NCAA All-Tournament Team. A physical education major, she will represent the USA at the 2008 Prague Cup.

Napoli, a Second-Team IWLCA All-Region selection in 2007, was the Pioneers leading goal scorer this season, scoring 58 goals, while also adding 20 assists. She picked up 24 ground balls while causing 23 turnovers on the season.

Williams, an integral part of the Pioneers' defensive unit, scored three goals while picking up a team-high 53 ground balls, and added 25 caused turnovers and 15 draw controls.

The Pioneers completed the 2008 campaign with a 17-2 overall record and 5-1 clip in the East Coast Conference and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the third straight year.
