Volleyball Shut Out By Bentley, 3-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Aug. 29, 2008) – Junior outside hitter Alex Kearney recorded a match-high 14 kills as Bentley College defeated C.W. Post, 3-0, in women's volleyball action Friday evening at the Pratt Recreation Center. The set scores were 25-16, 25-18, and 25-19.
Bentley, who defeated NYIT, 3-0, earlier in the day, improves to 2-0 on the season. C.W. Post, who lost a three-game set to Dallas Baptist earlier Friday, falls to 0-3.
The Falcons took the first set, 25-16, but faced stiff competition in the second set by the Pioneers as the teams exchanged the lead five times and tied the score 14 times.
Bentley held a 43-35 advantage in kills via a .310 attacking percentage and took advantage of 19 Pioneer errors.
Junior outside hitter
Sammy Figliolia (Wantagh, N.Y.) recorded 11 kills while sophomore setter
Amanda Ostapow (East Setauket, N.Y.) tallied 26 assists in the match.
C.W. Post will return to the court to face Franklin Pierce University in its final match of the C.W. Post Volleyball Invitational. Bentley will face Dallas Baptist at 9 a.m. before concluding with Regis University at 11 a.m.
