Swimming Captures 116-80 Victory Over Sacred Heart

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 7, 2009)
– The C.W. Post swimming team claimed victories in eight of 11 events to claim a 116-80 win over Sacred Heart University Saturday afternoon at the Pratt Recreation Center Natatorium.
 
C.W. Post improves to 2-0 overall with the win. 
 
Senior Josephine Tjernstrom (Bromma, Sweden) captured wins in the 200 free (2:02.95) as well as the 100 breaststroke (1:09.74). She also teamed up with senior Morgan Feliccia (Arnold, Md.), junior Sofi Mathsson (Stockholm, Sweden), and freshman Kristina Fritsch (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the 200 free relay as the Pioneers clinched the win at 1 minute, 45.41 seconds.
 
Junior Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario) also registered individual victories in the 200-yard individual medley (2:13.87) and the 200 fly (59.03). Riley, along with senior Brittany Roman-Green (Woodstock, N.Y.), senior Dora Biocic (Zagreb, Croatia), and freshman Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) swam to a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay at 1:52.00.
 
Hanes also captured two wins of her own in the 50 free when she narrowly beat Sacred Heart's Juliette Wallerstein to the wall with a final time of 25.33.  Wallerstein came in at 25.55. Hanes coasted to first in the 100 free when she tapped the wall at 56.50, ahead of Sacred Heart's Laurie Casado, who came in at 57.95.
 
C.W. Post returns to action Nov. 13 when it hosts Sienna College at 7 p.m.
