Macklin's 27 Propels Men's Basketball Past Northwest Missouri, 97-88

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Dec. 18, 2009) – Senior guard #Roberto Macklin# (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) scored a game-high 27 points as the C.W. Post Pioneers used a second half surge to defeat Northwest Missouri, 97-88, in a non-conference men's basketball tilt at the High Desert Classic Friday evening.
C.W. Post improves to 3-3 overall and will play Central Missouri on Saturday at 2 p.m. PST. Northwest Missouri slips to 5-4 overall.
Trailing 42-41 at the half, the Pioneers shot .704 (19 of 27) from field goal range in the second half and kept the Bearcats at bay throughout the game.
The Bearcats clawed their way back into the game via a 5-0 spurt and cutting the lead to 83-79 with 3:55 left to play after a pair of free throws from junior forward Elijah Allen (Columbus, Ohio). The Pioneers answered with a 9-0 run that built their lead 13 (92-79) with 1:40 on the clock.
Senior forward Nemanja Jokic (Bronx, N.Y.) and junior forward Aaron Hall (Syracuse, N.Y.) each scored 21 points for the Pioneers.
Junior guard Gilbert Montalvo (Astoria, N.Y.) added 10 points and dished out eight assists for C.W. Post.
Senior guard Girod Adams (Topeka, Kan.) led the Bearcats with 26 points while Allen finished the game with 24 points.
