Swimming Stands Fourth After Day One At Metropolitan Championships

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (Feb. 20, 2009)
– The Metropolitan Collegiate Championships concluded after day one and the C.W. Post swimming team currently sits in fourth place among the 20 participating teams.
 
The Pioneers totaled 252 points after the first day. Southern Connecticut State University currently leads the field with 344 points followed by The College of New Jersey (315.5) and the University of Bridgeport (281). 
 
C.W. Post captured an NCAA “A” cut in the 200-yard freestyle relay powered by junior Brittany Roman-Green (Woodstock, N.Y.), senior Mariel Andersson (Brastad, Sweden), sophomore Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario) and freshman Marta Kristic (Rego Park, N.Y.), finishing second at one minute, 36.03 seconds.
 
Roman-Green, along with  went on to earn a “B” cut in the 50 freestyle with a third place showing (24.02). Roman-Green caputured a school record in the preliminary with a final time of 23.95 seconds.
 
The Pioneers captured a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay on the strength of Andersson, junior #Josephine Tjernstrom# (Bromma, Sweden), Cassidy and Roman-Green, clocking in at 3:57.80.
