Baseball Drops Two Games to Ashland

AUBURNDALE, Fla. (March 12, 2009) - The baseball team ended it's Florida trip with two tough losses to Ashland University on Wednesday and Thursday in the Russ Matt Invitational.
The Pioneers record is now 0-11, while the Eagles are 12-5 overall.
On Wednesday the Pioneers suffered a 14-3 defeat at the hands of an Ashland team that rapped out 16 hits on the day.
Roger Pfeffer (Whitestone, N.Y.) took the loss as he surrendered four runs on two hits in one inning.
Nick Compito (Jericho, N.Y.) led the Pioneers with two hits in the game.
Thursday saw the Pioneers pound out 11 runs on 18 hits, but problems with defense (seven errors) led to 12 unearned runs, and CWP was unable to overcome the deficit, falling 22-11.
Compito and
Anthony Montesano (Bellmore, N.Y.) each had three hits for the Pioneers, with Montesano driving in two runs and Compito driving in one.
Mike Alfano (Hauppauge, N.Y.),
Mike Callaghan (East Meadow, N.Y.) and
#P.J. Ragone# (Deer Park, N.Y.) each added two hits for C.W. Post.
Glen Hudson (Sayville, N.Y.) took the loss for the Pioneers, giving up four runs - only one earned - on four hits in two innings.
C.W. Post has two doubleheaders scheduled for this weekend, on Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16, against Southern New Hampshire. First pitch is at noon on both days.
