HOUSTON (March 13, 2009) – Senior Mariel Andersson (Brastad, Sweden) placed seventh in the 100 backstroke to earn All-American at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Houston.
 
The Pioneers are currently 20th out of 31 teams.
 
Andersson, who swam to a first-place finish earlier in preliminaries, touched the wall for a final time of 56.71 seconds. With that time, Andersson set both a personal best and school record. Andersson was an All-American in the 200 Medley Relay and was Honorable Mention in the 100 back, 200 back, and 400 medley relay in 2008.

Junior Brittany Roman-Green (Woodstock, N.Y.) placed 21st in the 100 back at 58.32.
 
Sophomore Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario) competed in the 200 butterfly and completed the event with a final time of 2:10.28.
