Hogan, Powers Garner Weekly ECC Awards

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (April 13, 2009) – Senior Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and sophomore Sam Powers (Holbrook, N.Y.) tallied East Coast Conference weekly honors after a 2-0 week. 
 
Hogan was the leading scorer for the second-ranked Pioneers in a 2-0 week where they posted a 14-11 win over New Haven and a 22-5 win over Merrimack. Hogan scored three goals and added two assists against New Haven and tallied a season-high six goals along with two assists against Merrimack, also adding two caused turnovers. Hogan compiled a .529 scoring percentage on the week, won nine draw controls and scored on one free position attempt.
 
Powers tallied 32 saves in the Pioneers 2-0 week. She notched a season-high 17 saves against No. 8 New Haven to preserve a 14-11 Pioneer victory, including 10 in the second half.  Powers followed with 15-save performance against Merrimack, allowing only five goals, to compile a save percentage of .667 on the week while posting an 8.00 goals against average.
 
C.W. Post (9-1, 1-0 ECC) will host a three-game homestand this week, beginning with Dowling College (April 15) followed by Saint Michael's College (April 17) and Lock Haven University (April 19).
