Volleyball Makes It Three Straight With 3-0 Win Over Queens

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Sept. 22, 2009)
– C.W. Post won its second conference match this season and third straight match with a quick 3-0 victory over Queens College in an East Coast Conference Tuesday evening at Fitzgerald Gym. The match scores were 25-9, 25-17 and 25-21.
 
C.W. Post wins its third straight match and improves to 6-7 overall and 2-0 in the ECC while Queens slips to 1-7 overall and 0-1 in the ECC.
 
The Pioneers eased through the first two sets with a comfortable lead throughout until the Knights rallied to stir trouble in the third set. The Knights started the set with a 4-1 lead before allowing the Pioneers to tie it up at 8-all. The teams toggled the lead before the Pioneers took the lead for good on a Queens' service error (20-19) before outscoring the home team 6-2 to close out the match.
 
Junior outside hitter Marilena Guadagnini (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and freshman outside hitter Kirsten Taylor (South Pasadena, Calif.) each registered eight kills for the Pioneer offense. Junior setter Amanda Ostapow (East Setauket, N.Y.) tallied 24 assists. 
 
Sophomore outside hitter Camila Dantas (Sao Paola, Brazil) led the Knights with 10 kills.
 
C.W. Post returns to action Sept. 24 for its first home match of the season and will host Molloy College at 7 p.m.
