Ogoshi Adopts "Fighting Spirit" Award
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 30, 2009) – C.W. Post head volleyball coach Shellane Ogoshi recently introduced the “Fighting Spirit” award to her Pioneer squad to honor a player a member of the team that displays her best fighting spirit in each match.
The tradition of the Fighting Spirit began when Ogoshi played as an undergraduate at Hofstra University in 2006 under head coach Fran Kalafer, whose mother battled four different types of cancer. Ogoshi received Kalafer's blessing to carry on the same tradition at C.W. Post.
Says Ogoshi, “I am honored that I am able to carry on that not only signifies outstanding and unmatched team effort in helping her team, but recognized fight and character in a player when facing adversity.”
Freshman Kirsten Taylor (South Pasadena, Calif.) received the inaugural award for her outstanding efforts in the Pioneers' win against Molloy.
