No. 23 Swimming Downs TCNJ, 137-122; Pioneers Boast Four NCAA Cuts

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Jan. 16, 2010)
– C.W. Post, who ranks 23rd in the latest Collegeswimming.com online poll, won 10 of 14 events and posted NCAA qualifying times in four events to defeat The College of New Jersey, 137-122, Saturday afternoon at the Pratt Recreation Center Natatorium.
 
Senior Josephine Tjernstrom (Bromma, Sweden) earned “B” cuts with individual wins in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Junior Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario) posted “B” cuts in the 100 and 200 butterfly events. Cassidy also took home a win in the 200 individual medley with a final time of 2 minutes, 13.77 seconds.
 
Tjernstrom and Cassidy teamed up with senior Brittany Roman-Green (Woodstock, N.Y.) and freshman Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) to capture a win in the 200-yard medley relay, clocking in at 1:49.09.
 
Roman-Green went on to win the 100 backstroke when she touched the wall at 59.63. Senior Morgan Feliccia (Arnold, Md.) followed a close second at 1:02.89. Feliccia posted another runner-up finish in the 200 backstroke, behind TCNJ's Kristyn Wikoff.
 
Hanes posted wins in the 50 free and 100 free while freshman Kristina Fritsch (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was first in the 200 free. 
 
Prior to the start of the meet, seniors Tjernstrom, Roman-Green, Feliccia, Sofi Mathsson (Stockholm, Sweden) and Dora Biocic (Zagreb, Croatia) were honored for their accomplishments during their careers at C.W. Post.
 
C.W. Post returns to the pool on Friday, Jan. 22 at Fordham University for a 6 p.m. start.
