BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (February 17, 2009) – Behind  26 points from Aaron Hall (Syracuse, N.Y. ) and 24 points from Nemanja Jokic (Sombor, Serbia), the C.W. Post men's basketball team rolled to a victory over Northern Boulevard rival NYIT by the score of 88-69, on Wednesday night  in East Coast Conference action.

The Pioneers improve to 19-5, 15-3 in conference, play, while the Bears slip to 12-13, 9-9 in ECC action.

C.W. Post applied excellent defensive pressure starting out the first half, allowing NYIT to score just seven points through the first six minutes of action. Following a Jonathan Kohler (Bordentown, N.J.) layup at 14:14, the Pioneers led by 10, 17-7.  NYIT's Carl Kindborg hit a three to make the score 17-10, but the Pioneers went on a 21-8 run over the next seven minutes, capped by a layup by Jokic,  to build an 18 point lead, 36-18 with just over seven minutes to play in the half. 

The Bears responded with an 11-2 run and pulled within nine, 29-38 on three pointer from junior Daniel Berg, but Post pushed the lead back to 13 points on their next two possessions and went into the half ahead 46-33. 

The Pioneers quickly increased their lead to 20 points through the first five minutes action, but NYIT's Kris Knez scored 10 of the Bears next 13 points during a 13-3 run to bring the Bears within 11 points, 63-52 with 9:40 remaining. However, Gil Montalvo (Astoria, N.Y.) responded with back-to-back three pointers and a Hall dunk pushed the Pioneers lead back up to 19, and they woiuld lead by no less than 19 the rest of the way.

Hall's points came off 11-13 shooting and a 4-4 effort from the free throw line, while Jokic shot 11-19 from the floor. Montalvo contributed 12 points and 6 assists, and sophomore guard Billy Butler (Elmont. N.Y.) added a career-high 10 assists. 

The Pioneers will next host Molloy at home, on February 20, at 3:30 p.m.
