No. 23 Swimming Competes at Metropolitan Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Feb. 20, 2010) – The C.W. Post swimming team is in the midst of its second day of competition at the Metropolitan Collegiate Championships, and the Pioneers currently sit in third place among the 21 participating teams. The Pioneers have also collected two NCAA "A" cuts, two "B" cuts, and set three new school records in the outstanding showing.
The Pioneers totaled 296 points thus far after a day and a half of competition. The College of New Jersey leads the field with 425 points, followed by Southern Connecticut State University with 377 points.
C.W. Post captured an NCAA “A” cut in the 200-yard freestyle relay as they also set a new school record with a time of one minute, 35.05 seconds. Powered by junior

Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) and freshman
#Sandra Kirstein (Hollviken, Sweden), the Pioneers finished first in the event.
Cassidy would then post a second-place finish, an NCAA "B" cut, and another new school record, this time in the 200-yard IM, touching the wall at 2:08.80. Freshman
Carly Marshall (Cornwall, N.Y.) finished tenth in the same event with a time of 2:14.42.
Hanes continued her excellent showing with a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, posting an NCAA "B" cut in the event as well as a personal best time, finishing in :23.91. Kirstein finished eighth in the even with a time of :25.00.
The Pioneers finished second in the 200-yard medley relay, breaking yet another school record in the process of posting an NCAA "A" cut, as Roman-Green, Cassidy, Hanes and senior
Josephine Tjernstrom (Bromma, Sweden) posted a time of 3:53.82.
