Hall's 35 Points Lead Men's Basketball Past Queens, 77-69

Aaron Hall (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored a career high 35 points as he led the C.W. Post men's basketball team to a 77-69 win over Queens College on Wednesday evening at the Pratt Recreation Center.
The Pioneers, with a record of 16-4 overall and 12-2 in the conference, are on a 13-game winning streak, and have also won 38 straight games at the Pratt Recreation Center. Queens stands at 11-9, 8-6 in the conference.
The Pioneers jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the game, then turned it into a 9-2 advantage after a bucket by freshman forward
Jonathan Kohler (Bordentown, N.J.) at the 17:03 mark. Queens battled back to make the score 9-8, and took a 14-13 lead after a layup by Khaleef Allicott at 13:26. C.W. Post answered with back to back floaters from Hall and senior forward
Nemanja Jokic (Sombor, Serbia) that gave them a 17-14 lead, but a trey by Lamonte Lans tied the game up at 17-17 with 11:48 remaining the first half.
The Pioneers pulled ahead 19-17 on two free throws by Jokic, and began to pull away as they went on a 14-3 tear that gave them a 33-20 lead with 5:47 remaining. Queens was able to pull to a five point deficit, 33-28, with 2:58 on the clock, but C.W. Post quickly pushed ahead again, and took a nine-point, 38-29 lead into the halftime break.
C.W. Post came out of the half much like they ended the previous one, pushing the tempo and keeping Queens at arms length, taking a 10, then 12-point lead, 49-37 at 16:48. The host advantage burgeoned to as many as 16 points before Queens pulled to within 10, 65-55, after Akim Neverson's trey with 8 minutes to play.
Queens stayed in the game, as the Pioneers took an 11-point lead with 4:32 remaining only to see it dissippage on back to back jumpers by Allicott that trimmed the lead to seven. But the Pioneers were able to convert at the free throw line and remain two possessions ahead of the visitors for the remainder of the contest as they finished with an eight-point victory.
Hall's standout game came on 15-21 shooting, as he poured in 18 points in the first half and 17 in the second, in addition to grabbing a team-high eight boards. Jokic also had a strong game for the Pioneers, as he scored 19 points on 7-14 shooting, and junior guard
Gil Montalvo (Astoria, N.Y.) dished a game-high seven assists and grabbed a career-high four steals.
Queens placed four players in double figures as Neverson led the Knights with a 16-point outing. Allicott chipped in with 14 points, Lans added 12 and Khalil McDonald scored 11 for the visitors.
The Pioneers finished the game shooting 49% from the floor (30-61) and making 14-18 from the free throw line. They score 19 points off Queens miscues and despite being outrebounded 38-35 by the Knights, outscored the visitors 42-36 in the paint.
Head coach Tim Cluess and the Pioneers have the important rubber match game against Bridgeport, with who they are tied for first place in the conference, on Saturday, February 6 at 3 p.m.
