Swimming Competes At East Stroudsburg Invitational

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (Feb. 7, 2010) – The C.W. Post women's swimming team competed at the East Stroudsburg Invite Sunday afternoon in preparation of the upcoming Metropolitan Conference Championships.
No team scores were kept as swimmers from four other teams including East Stroudsburg, Millersville, Kutztown and Post University fine tuned their skills in the water.
Senior Brittany Roman-Green (Woodstock, N.Y.) captured an individual win in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing first at 2 minutes, 13.97 seconds. Roman-Green also registered a second-place finish in the 100 breast.
Roman-Green, along with senior Josephine Tjernstrom (Bromma, Sweden), junior Riley Cassidy (Cambridge, Ontario) and freshman Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) was first to the wall in the 200 medley relay with a final time of 1:51.70.
Cassidy took home a first-place finish in the 200 individual medley as well as the 200 free. Hanes, meanwhile, also captured an individual win in the 50 free with a final finish of 25.00 seconds. Cassidy finished a close second in the event at 25.14.
Junior Sofi Mathsson (Stockholm, Sweden) tapped the wall first in the 100 fly, recording a final time of 2:18.86.
Freshman Carly Marshall (Cornwall, N.Y.) finished second overall in the 400 individual medley as well as the 100 fly. Freshman Sandra Kirstein (Hollviken, Sweden) finished second in the 100 back, clocking in at 1:05.12.
Head coach Maureen Travers and the Pioneers return to the pool when they compete at the upcoming Metropolitan Championships to be held Feb. 19-20 at host Rutgers University.
