Graczyk Picks Up ECC Player of the Week Honors

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (March 22, 2010) – Freshman centerfielder/pitcher Zack Graczyk (Carmel, N.Y.) was named this week's East Coast Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.  

Graczyk hit a jaw-dropping .684 on the week, scoring eight runs and helping the Pioneers to a 4-1 record. The freshman rapped out 13 hits in 19 at bats, including a double and a homerun. He walked twice and was hit once, reaching base at a .727 clip with a .895 slugging percentage. Graczyk added a stolen base and drove in four runs, including the game-winner against St. Thomas Aquinas in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. He was flawless in the field with nine putouts and two outfield assists. On the mound, he appeared in two games, giving up only three hits and one earned run in five innings, including earning the save with a scoreless seventh against STAC.


The Pioneers (6-6-1, 4-1 ECC) will travel to Dowling College on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
