SAVERNA PARK, Md. (March 27, 2010)
– Sophomore midfielders Nan Mayott (Islip, N.Y.) and Ashley Janelli (Glen Head, N.Y.) each tallied four goals to lead No. 3 C.W. Post past Belmont Abbey in a non-conference women's lacrosse clash at the Savern School Field.
 
C.W. Post improves its season record to 6-0 overall while Belmont Abbey drops to 4-7.
 
C.W. Post scored the first goal 1:32 into the first half when senior midfielder Brianne Jackolski (Shirley, N.Y.) scored on a feed from senior midfielder Kim Williams (Long Valley, N.J.). 
 
Belmont Abbey answered less than a minute later when senior midfielder Laurie Jordan (Davidson, Md.) fired a shot into the back of the net at 27:30.  The Crusaders added another score when junior attacker Kristyn Kinsey (Millersville, Md.) scored on a free-position shot at 26:08 to boost their lead to 2-1.
 
The Pioneers tied the game up when freshman midfielder Abigail Ross (Miller Place, N.Y.) found the back of the net on a pass from Jackolski at 25:39. 
 
The Crusaders regained the lead on a goal from freshman attacker Susan Killeavy (Austin, Texas) at 22:43.
 
C.W. Post tied it up again 14 seconds later when Mayott sprinted down the field and fired the shot into the net. Williams put the Pioneers ahead with back-to-back goals, with the first scored 12 seconds later after winning the draw control after Mayott's goal.
 
The Pioneers went on to score eight more goals before the close of the first half, including a pair from sophomore attacker Lauren Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) and Jackolski.
 
Belmont Abbey added two more goals in the half, including two from senior attacker Tara Chmil (Lake Mary, Fla.).
 
The second half was practically controlled entirely by the Pioneer offense as they went on a seven-goal scoring spree that included three from Mayott.
 
The Crusaders couldn't match the goals and scored their only goal in the second half on a shot from Chmil at 3:33.
 
Jackolski finished the game with three goals while Williams, Ross and freshmen attackers Megan Noone (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Morgan Chiarenza (Nesconset, N.Y.) all finished with two goals each. Senior attacker Staci Passafiume (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) and junior attacker Michelle Fucich (Seaford, N.Y.) chipped in one goal apiece.
 
Junior goalkeeper Sam Powers (Holbrook, N.Y.) made eight saves in goal for the win. Freshman Dominique Mosca (Merrick, N.Y.) played the final 18 minutes in goal and recorded two saves.
 
For the Crusaders, Chmil led the way with three goals while Jordan finished the game with two. Kileavy and Kinsey each had one goal.
 
C.W. Post outshot the Crusaders, 40-17, and held a 24-13 advantage in ground balls. The Pioneers were 22-for-23 on clear attempts while the Crusaders were 16-for-22.
 
C.W. Post is back in action on Sunday, March 28 when it takes on Pfeiffer University for an 11 a.m. matchup.
