Brian Anderson# (Nesconset, N.Y.) batted 3-for-5 and drove in the game-winning run on an RBI walk in the bottom of the 11th inning as C.W. Post defeated Dowling College, 5-2, in the first game of a Sunday afternoon East Coast Conference baseball doubleheader. The Golden Lions came back to take game two, 2-0.
C.W. Post improves to 10-7 overall and 8-2 in conference play. Dowling is 10-10 overall and 5-5 in the ECC.
Senior Brian Saldana (Deer Park, N.Y.) started the game and tossed seven innings, scattering 10 hits with two earned runs and one walk while striking out six batters.  Sophomore Glen Hudson (West Sayville, N.Y.) came on in the eighth and pitched three shutout innings to earn the win.
Trailing 1-0, the Pioneers put up two runs in the top of the fourth courtesy of a fielding error and an RBI single from senior left fielder #Kyle Dean# (Southbury, Conn.).
Dowling tied the score in the bottom of the seventh when junior shortstop Eddie Squeri (Shirley, N.Y.) singled down the left field line to score the run from second base.
The game would remain tied and go into extra innings. In the top of the 11th, the Pioneer bats woke up as Anderson was issued the RBI walk and freshman catcher #Anthony Corona# (Carmel, N.Y.) drove in two more with a base hit to center field.
Anderson went 3 for 5 with an RBI in the game and Corona finished batting 3 for 6 with two RBI and a run scored.
In the second game, Dowling scratched a run out in the top of the first inning when senior first baseman Daniel Pembroke (Wading-River, N.Y.) hit an RBI single to center field. 
The Golden Lions tacked on another run in the top of the fifth when freshman Joe Candela (East Quogue, N.Y.) added an RBI single up the middle. 
Senior pitcher Buddy Cippoletti (West Islip, N.Y.) pitched seven innings of shutout baseball and let up three runs and three walks while striking out three batters.
Freshman Kevin Chenicek (Levittown, N.Y.) took the loss after allowing the two earned runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out four.
C.W. Post is back in action when it travels to play at UMass Lowell on Tuesday, March 30 for a 3:30 p.m. start.
