CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (March 29, 2010) – Senior shortstop Bryan Bonin (Commack, N.Y.) earned East Coast Conference Player of the Week honors, and senior pitcher Pete Budkevics (Deer Park, N.Y.) was named this week's East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.

Bonin batted .467 on the week, helping the Pioneers to a 4-1 record against Dowling College. He went 7-for-15 with five walks, three runs scored, and three RBI. He drove in two game-tying RBI in Saturday's doubleheader against Dowling, tying the score 2-2 in the seventh in game one, then singling in the tying run to make it 6-6 in game two – in both games, the Pioneers won the game in the seventh inning. In addition, Bonin reached base at a .619 clip, and was successful on his only steal attempt of the week.

Budkevics picked up a win on Saturday against
Dowling, improving to 3-0 on the season by throwing a complete game no-no against the Golden Lions, giving up no hits and no earned runs in a seven-inning effort. Budkevics struck out eight batters and walked only three.

The Pioneers (10-7-1, 8-2 ECC) resume play on March 30 as they travel to Lowell, Mass. to take on UMass-Lowell in a non-conference matchup starting at 3:30 against the River Hawks.
