Box Score
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 28, 2010) –
Molloy senior Chuck Fontana (Staten Island, N.Y.) tossed a one-hit shutout for the Lions, as the C.W. Post baseball team dropped a 1-0 East Coast Conference baseball decision on Wednesday afternoon.

The Pioneers now stand at 26-12-1, 20-6 overall, while Molloy moves to 25-19, 18-7 in conference play.

The second inning saw Molloy take a 1-0 lead as Brian Benes (Omaha, Neb.) tripled to right field and came home on Greg Walsh's (Bellmore, N.Y.) groundout to second base.

That would be all the offense Fontana would need as he stifled the Pioneer offense, allowing just a single in the second inning to Nick Compito (Syosset, N.Y.).

Fontana finished with seven strikeouts and two walks in nine innings, spoiling an otherwise strong effort by Pioneer hurler, freshman Kevin Chenicek (Levittown, N.Y.), who went eight innings and scattered eight hits, striking out three.  Freshman reliever Zack Graczyk (Carmel, N.Y.) pitched a scoreless ninth.

Benes had four hits in four at-bats for Molloy.

The Pioneers travel to Rockville Centre on Friday to take on the Lions in a 3 p.m. matchup.
