BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 30, 2010) – C.W Post head women's volleyball coach Shellane Ogoshi announced the addition of two incoming freshmen for the 2010-11 school year. Stephanie Coufal (Littleton, Colo.) and Shayla Hixson (Honolulu, Hawaii) will play for the Pioneers in the upcoming school year.
Hixson was a three-year varsity player at La Pietra High School and was the MVP of her team in 2009. She was also named to the Advertiser All-Star team in 2008 and 2009.
On Hixson: "We are very excited to add Shayla onto our roster for this upcoming season as she will be a great attribute to our program and University,” says Ogoshi. “Shayla is a very athletic all around player. She is a very quick and explosive player we think will be able to contribute to the type of offense we are making a transition towards."
Coufal was a three-year varsity player at Chatfield Senior High School in Littleton, Colo. and helped the Chargers claim the Jefferson County League Championship title. She was selected All-Conference and Academic All State First Team.
On Coufal: “We are excited to see what Stephanie will be able to contribute to our program as she will add a great dynamic to our offense and defense,” says Ogoshi. “Stephanie will be a great attribute to our program because she will complement our system with her strength.”
C.W. Post finished the 2009 season with a 14-14 overall record, including an 8-4 mark in the East Coast Conference. The Pioneers are scheduled to open their season Sept. 3 at the Kutztown Tournament.
