Women's Lacrosse Remains In Top Spot In IWLCA Final Regular Season Poll

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 1, 2010)-The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) released its weekly poll, as the C.W. Post Pioneers remained in the top spot in Division II. This is the second week in a row for the Pioneers in the number one spot, as they  currently hold an overall 16-1 record, 7-0 in the East Coast Conference.


The C. W. Post Pioneers held on to the top ranking in the final poll of the regular season, but the Pioneers shared first-place votes with both No. 2 Lock Haven and No. 3 Adelphi in the final regular-season standing. The same ten teams remained in the rankings for a second consecutive week. The IWLCA Poll has no bearing on selection to the NCAA Tournament. 

The PSAC continues to lead all conferences with four schools, starting with Lock Haven at No. 2. West Chester, the PSAC runner-up, stays at No. 5 while Mercyhurst drops to No. 7 and Gannon holds at No. 8. Top-ranked C. W. Post leads the ECC contingent and is joined by No. 10 Molloy. No. 2 Adelphi and No. 6 Stonehill hail from the Northeast-10 while No. 34 Limestone is the sole representative of Conference Carolinas.


The NCAA tournament takes place this week, and No. 1 C. W. Post and No. 2 Lock Haven received byes in the first round. No. 3 Adelphi hosts No. 6 Stonehill in one first-round game while No. 5 West Chester takes on No. 3 Limestone in the other quarterfinal game.
