Lyons Earns Division II Community Awareness Award

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 25, 2010) - The Awards Committee for the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has selected C.W. Post senior women's lacrosse player Kian Lyons (Farmingdale, N.Y.) as the 2010 Division II Community Awareness Award winner.  

Lyons has been awarded this honor based on her service to the C.W. Post community and beyond, and will be honored for her achievement in a banquet will be held on June 12th in King of Prussia, PA.  

Lyons has been an incredible asset to the entire athletic department in addition to her exploits on the lacrosse field, heading up variety of community service initiatives over the past four years.  A recipient of the Christine Webb award from the C.W. Post Athletic Department, Lyons has done an outstanding job in getting the C.W. Post student body more involved in campus-wide initiatives including volunteering and service to others. As president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, she regularly attends Student Government Meetings. She was the recipient of the Elizabeth King Award and also serves as president of the NSSCHA organization for speech. 

On April 10, she organized “Pioneering For Ava” in support of nemaline myopathy.   
She was also a driving force behind the Lax4Autism initiative that the Pioneers participated in.
