Men's And Women's Lacrosse Both Qualify For The Big Dance; Pioneers Make Second Straight Appearance Together In NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS (May 9, 2010) For month of May will be a busy and exciting time for the C.W. Post men's and women's lacrosse teams as both programs have qualified for the upcoming NCAA Tournament, it was announced Sunday evening by the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's National Lacrosse Committees.
On the women's side, six-team field was chosen and C.W. Post (16-1) was the top team in the North Region and will automatically advance to the semifinal contest on May 22 in at host Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa. There the Pioneers will play the winner of the first round contest between second-seeded Adelphi (16-1) and third-seeded Stonehill (13-3). 
In the south region, Lock Haven (16-1)was selected the top team and will play the winner of first round contest featuring second-seeded West Chester (17-1) and third-seeded Limestone (18-1) in the first round. 
C.W. Post has participated in the NCAA Championship tournament a record nine times, including the last four seasons. The Pioneers have advanced to the championship final two of the last three years and won their second national title against West Chester University in 2007.
On the men's side, the four-team field was announced and the defending national champions will host a familiar opponent in Dowling College in the semifinal contest on Saturday, May 22 on Hickox Field. LeMoyne will host Limestone in the other semifinal. The winners of each game will advance to the championship game on Sunday, May 30 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md.
In last year's national championship game, C.W. Post defeated LeMoyne, 8-7, to capture its second title in program history. In all, the Pioneers have qualified for the tournament 11 times.
