Mallory Poole '08 Selected to 2010-11 U.S. Women's Lacrosse National Team
BALTIMORE, Md. (Aug. 3, 2010) – US Lacrosse women's national team head coach Ricky Fried and his coaching staff announced their annual roster for 2010-11 after winning the gold at the 2009 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Cup. Included on the roster is C.W. Post alumnus Mallory Poole (Corning, N.Y.) who will be one of 36 players divided among the Elite and Developmental teams.
For Poole, this marks her third straight year as a member of the team. She was a four-time IWLCA All-American and led C.W. Post to a NCAA national title in 2007 and a national runner-up finish in 2008. She finished her career with the Pioneers with 137 goals, 32 assists and 122 ground balls.
The three-day tryout took place from July 30 to August 1 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in Catonsville, Md. The 36 players will all be eligible for the 2013 FIL World Cup which will take place at a time and place still to be determined by the federation.
In addition to the World Cup, the team program competes on an annual basis with tryouts held each summer. The teams also compete in the U.S Lacrosse Champion Challenge each January, the US Lacrosse Stars & Stripes Weekend in October and a series of U.S. National Team Clinics throughout the country.
